The Retrievers (1982)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Elliott Hong (They Call Me Bruce?)

STARS: Max Thayer (No Dead Heroes), Shawn Hoskins, Leonard Miller, Roselyn Royce (Runaway Nightmare)

SYNOPSIS: Likable Max Thayer stars as a carefree blue collar type who gets involved with a shady company which "retrieves" targets and sometime kills them. He's asked to join the group based on his skills with wiretapping and surveillance. On one of the jobs his partner kills a witness and Thayer realizes he's running with the wrong crowd. He joins forces with the sister of a kidnapped man who wrote a tell-all book about his time with the "retrievers". The bad guys go after Thayer, the girl and anyone connected with the publishing of this shocking expose. There are shootings, knife fights, Ninja stars, nunchucks and lots of martial arts action. It's one of those films where everybody knows karate and isn't afraid to use it. There are some memorable characters including a sadistic villain, an overweight guy named "Big Mac" who eats apples out of paper bag and a busty blonde book publisher (Roselyn Royce) who knows karate and looks like she could be Pamela Anderson's mother! In one shocking scene Thayer puts a gun in a bad guy's mouth and fires, resulting in a Shogun Assassin-style geyser of blood shooting out of his skull!
