Hit List (1989)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: William Lustig (Maniac, Vigilante)

STARS: Jan-Michael Vincent (Enemy Territory, Defiance), Lance Henrikson (Aliens, Near Dark), Rip Torn (The Beastmaster), Leo Rossi (Relentless), Charles Napier (Up!, Citizen's Band), Howard Sylvester (Innerspace), Jere Burns (Justified)

SYNOPSIS: A colorful mob informant (Rossi) and his son are kept in a safe house prior to testifying against his boss (vicious Rip Torn). Torn hires a deadly hit man (Henrikson) to kidnap the son and keep Rossi quiet but in a twist of fate he goes to wrong house. The assassin kills Vincent's friend, beats his wife and steals his son. When Vincent realizes the cops (Napier and Burns) are dragging their feet until after Rossi testifies, he decides to take matters into his own hands. Eventually he even teams up with a sympathetic Rossi who helps him track down vicious Henrikson. Jan-Michael Vincent was just starting to go downhill with this film although he would continue acting for another 10 years. All the other actors seem to be having a good time with Torn chewing up the scenery and Henrikson as intense and scary as ever. There are fight scenes, shoot-outs and some good car chases. In a rare case of 'truth in advertising' the image on the vhs cover (a man stuck under a vehicle being driven into sharp spike strips) actually does happen in the film.
