Squadra Antiscippo (1976)

$20.00

(aka Cop in Blue Jeans)

DIRECTOR: Bruno Corbucci (Ms Stiletto, Thieves and Robbers)

STARS: Tomas Milian (Almost Human, Cat Chaser), Jack Palance (Portrait of a Hitman, Welcome to Blood City), Maria Rosaria Omaggio

SYNOPSIS: Tomas Milian's first appearance as the unorthodox street cop Nico Giraldi. Nico is a fan of real-life American cop "Serpico". He even has the film's movie poster, with Al Pacino, on the wall of his apartment. Nico dresses and acts more like a street thug than a cop. Perpetually unshaven he wears a colorful wool cap with long hair underneath, jeans and sneakers. He's constantly smoking or chewing gum and although he might bend the law at times he's ultimately an honest cop. Milian is endlessly entertaining in this role. In Squadra he's busy cracking down on criminals who snatch purses, steal luggage and rob jewelry. When an American businessman, Jack Palance, gets his briefcase filled with millions of U.S dollars stolen Nico wonders why he didn't report it. This leads to double crosses, murder and a money laundering scheme. Palance has more of a "special appearance" than a co-starring role but he and Milian have some good scenes together including a long chase with Palance in a car and Milian on his dirt bike. Featuring a bouncy, memorable score from Guido and Maurizio De Angelis. English language version. This film has been available in the U.S. for years as a washed-out fullscreen release. Our version is a beautiful WIDESCREEN print.
