(aka Private Manoeuvres

DIRECTOR: Tzvi Shissel

STARS: Zachi Noy (Enter the Ninja), Yosef Shiloach (Rambo III), Moshe Ish-Kassit, Devora Bakon (Private Popsicle)

SYNOPSIS: Here's a slapstick and sex filled army comedy from Israel by the makers of the "Popsicle" series. Chubby baby-faced comedic actor Zach Noy starred in Israeli made sex comedies like Lemon Popsicle, Popcorn and Ice Cream, Going Steady, etc. This time he plays "Huey" a soldier in the army who spends most of his time goofing off and selling contraband to his fellow recruits. But the real star of the film is Noy's by-the-book drill sergeant Yosef Shiloach as "Ramit". He has a large nose, bushy mustache and for some reason has been dubbed in the film with a very heavy Indian accent. He's anxiety ridden and talks non-stop throughout the film getting more screen time and dialogue than the star. His scary girlfriend is best described as a female version of Paul Smith (Midnight Express, Sonny Boy)! The bare bones plot has to do with our heroes' rivalry with another troop led by an Australian accented blowhard with a ludicrously large mustache. The two troops have a "capture the flag" exercise to see who the better soldiers are. When this plot point isn't being touched on, we see endless random skits of army life: basic training, late night parties and Animal House style shenanigans. You really have to adjust your sense of humor for this one. The same way that Japanese or Danish films have a very particular comedic style, so does this film. It's very, very silly in a Jerry Lewis kind of way. Maybe a so-bad-it's-good kind of film that will grow on you. A tall leggy blonde that Ramit tries to bed provides the film's only (full frontal) nudity. There are toilet jokes, crossdressing, and a stuttering soldier in charge of communications. Not to mention a running gag about the troop doctor who likes sticking his finger up patient's asses regardless of their illness. The dubbing on everyone is insane. British, Australian, German, and Indian accents. Noy has a high pitched squeaky cartoon voice. For some reason 50's American pop hits fill the soundtrack. The script was written by Boaz Davidson the director of Lemon Popsicle, X-Ray and Last American Virgin.
