Outside Chance (1978)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Michael Miller (Street Girls, Silent Rage)

STARS: Yvette Mimieux (The Time Machine, Brainwash), Roy D. Applegate (Hot Rod, Chesty Anderson), Severn Darden (Sat. the 14th, Legend of Hillbilly John), Beverly Hope Atkinson (UFOria), Howard Houseman (Tunnel Vision, Dr. Detroit), Betty Thomas, Britt Leach (Hardly Working, Silent Night - Deadly Night), Nancy Lee Noble (She-Devils on Wheels)

SYNOPSIS: Yvette Mimieux battles crooked cops, criminals and a flawed legal system in this loose Made-for-TV remake of Jackson County Jail. Two years after starring in Jackson County Jail Yvette Mimieux once again finds herself on the wrong end of Southern justice. The biggest change from the original is the lack of Tommy Lee Jones' character. This time she's on her own. Driving cross country she unwisely picks up Robert Carradine and his nut job girlfriend (a positively manic Nancy Lee Noble). They eventually steal her car and money before leaving her in a ditch. Seeking help she's almost raped by a cook at a greasy spoon. Since she doesn't have any identification the sheriff throws her in jail overnight. This gives a redneck deputy a chance to assault her but she turns the tables and kills him. Facing murder charges she goes to the local prison and manages to escape with the help of a streetwise fellow convict. Mimieux is now on the run and can't trust anyone. She tangles with butch criminal Betty Thomas and her gang as well as a sympathetic musician who shows her kindness. Since this was made for television don't expect and nudity or bloodshed. But there are some pretty impressive car chases and explosions in this overall satisfying exploitation entry.
