SYNOPSIS: Two car obsessed comedy rarities

Love and The Midnight Auto Supply: Michael Parks plays it pretty straight in this silly comedy about a group of car thieves. He runs a team of fun-loving crooks who steal cars and strip them down for parts. Not to mention he's building a machine that makes counterfeit money. Life is good for him and his girlfriend who runs the local whorehouse. The plot kicks in when we learn that the local politicians and cops are screwing over the migrant workers who live in the town. Parks decides to do a good deed and play "Robin Hood". The idea is that they will only steal the cars of the rich and then give the money to the poor migrants. Colleen Camp plays a reluctant hooker that one of the men falls in love with. 'Bad Ronald' himself (Scott Jacoby) plays the leader of the group demanding fair pay for the migrant workers. 'Switchblade Sister' Monica Gayle even gets in on the fun with a long car chase scene where she runs from the cops. There's a bunch of action scenes similar to the kind you'd see in the same year's "Smokey and the Bandit". It's all very PG rated with no real nudity or violence.

Underground Aces: It seems like the early 80's were ripe for wacky action packed comedies filled with stars big and small, young and old. This one is no exception. It all takes place at a fancy hotel parking garage. There's the hotel manager (Orbach), a weird house detective named Freddy Kruger (!) (Gorshin), and of course all the misfit parking attendants (Hegyes, Benedict, Winslow, etc). The workers are obsessed with sex, hustling for tips and having races in the lower levels of the garage. 24 year old Melanie Griffith is a little uptight as the parking lot dispatcher who has eyes for Benedict. In addition to the sex, hijinx and parties the subplot has the attendants trying to help a rich Arab sheik who has fallen for regular girl Audrey Landers. Sid Haig plays the sheik's devoted bodyguard with barely a line of dialogue. Fans of all-star comedies like Scavenger Hunt, Midnight Madness, Used Cars, etc. will enjoy this one.
