Jig-Saw (1979)

$20.00

(aka L’Homme en Colére)

DIRECTOR: Claude Pinoteau (Escape to Nowhere)

STARS: Lino Ventura (Jailbirds’ Vacation, Army of Shadows), Angie Dickinson (Point Blank), Laurent Malet (Querelle), Hollis McLaren (Welcome to Blood City), Donald Pleasence (Alone in the Dark), Lisa Pelikan (Jennifer), R.H. Thomson (And Then You Die)

SYNOPSIS: Lino Ventura is summoned from France to Canada with the news that his troubled son is dead. Upon arrival he finds the body is not his son but only someone possessing his passport. This begins Ventura’s journey to find him in a country he’s unfamiliar with. He ruffles some feathers in the criminal world and learns his son owed money to gangsters. His son works it off by smuggling people (and drugs) over the border. Ventura realizes he needs to find him before the gangsters and police do. Feisty waitress Angie Dickinson takes a liking to Ventura and helps him out. Donald Pleasence is memorable as a soft spoken liaison between the gangsters and Ventura. You’ll recognize a lot of Canadian character actors in this one including Lisa Pelikan (star of the cult horror Jennifer) and R.H. Thomson (Ticket to Heaven). A handful of fights and chase scenes are sprinkled throughout the film which is a pretty low key affair, with no nudity, that could be rated PG.
