Hunters of the Golden Cobra
: With countless Raiders imitations on video shelves back in the 80's it would be easy to overlook this winner made only one year after the Spielberg smash hit. Genre vets Warbeck and Steiner are two reckless ex-soldiers who go in search of the titular golden cobra. They're hired to retrieve the statue whose value as a religious object could be cause for war. Joining them is sexy Almanta Suska who is searching for her identical twin sister lost in the jungle as a child! The reliable character actor Luciano Pigozzi, a Marghereti regular, is there too. Along the way they battle various bad guys, and a killer tribe, who try to stop the group in their quest. You'll see car chases, airplane hijinx, fight scenes, shoot-outs, killer snakes, a mystic shaman and a lava filled cave. Warbeck and Steiner make a fun team in this fast paced winner.

The Ark of the Sun God: They got the band together again (director: Margheriti, stars: Warbeck, Steiner & Pigozzi) for another Raiders riff two years later. This one mixes in a little To Catch a Thief as Warbeck plays a master cat burglar hired by wealthy Steiner to find a sacred scepter buried with a demigod. Meanwhile the devotees of a Turkish ruler (he's a descendant of the demigod) are following Warbeck and crew in hopes of grabbing the scepter first! Traveling by helicopter, horse and foot they make their way to a desert cave labyrinth filled with tombs, traps and hot lava. Much like in Margheriti's Car Crash there's some fun model work with toy cars employed to flesh out the tricker parts of two chase scenes. Shot mostly in Turkish desert locales and old crumbling locations. Both films are recommended and will not disappoint.
