Hell Bent (1995)
DIRECTOR: John Kozak (Dory)
STARS: Danial Sprintz, Kevin Doerksen, Allison Northkott
SYNOPSIS: Juvenile delinquents run wild in this shockingly grim Canadian drama. Three 14-year olds, "Marty", "Andy" and "Leslie", wander around their small Winnipeg town looking for kicks. They steal, beat younger kids, drink & smoke, terrorize adults and more. The film spends a few days with these lost souls as their appetite for destruction increases to an unbearable finale. The actors (and director) convincingly make a trio of kids so repellent that you'll be hard pressed to have any sympathy for them. Danial Sprintz as Marty, the defacto leader of the bunch, is in a constant state of boredom and rage. Like a shark he's always moving forward looking for his next thrill. It's a fearless performance. Each character has least one scene where we see their family life. In each case they're pretty normal suburban homes, giving viewers the impression that these three bad seeds were simply born that way.
