Does Size Really Count? (1969)
(aka Baring it All!, aka Utterly Without Redeeming Social Value)
DIRECTOR: Charles Hirsch / written by Charles Hirsch and Paul Bartel (Death Race 2000, Shelf Life)
STARS: Paul Bartel (Eating Raoul), Mike Sullivan (Greaser's Palace), Carol Saltus, Don Calfa (E. Nick, Return of the Living Dead), Roz Kelly (The Female Response)
SYNOPSIS: Very funny, irreverent, NYC comedy with shades of Robert Downey Sr, John Waters and early Brian De Palma. A doctor, Paul Bartel, has a group therapy session with six sexually damaged people who take turns sharing their stories. We see the flashbacks as each sordid story is told. A frustrated housewife has sex with a black saleswoman selling lingerie. Bartel has a daydream about being in a park and practically getting raped by a sexy Puerto Rican girl. A 70's look blonde complains of being repeatedly raped… but it turns out she's really just a nympho who willingly has sex with every man she can find! A short frumpy man with long hair, and a heavy New York accent, (the hilarious Mike Sullivan) describes going to an old prostitute and being laughed at because of his small member. A funny crossdresser picks up a man in bar and gets a little surprise in the bedroom. The amazing Don Calfa shows up late to the session and tells a wild, unbelievable, story about being tied up nude in the woods of NYC's Central Park. He explains how he was assaulted by a variety of weird characters and even a dog. Look really fast for a walk through by Bartel's pal Mary Woronov in this sequence. Lastly, Bartel recounts the story of a catatonic patient and how she came to be under his care. Filled with big laughs and a surprising amount of nudity. Highly recommended. Another "J4HI" title with zero reviews on the IMDB!
