Delta Fox (1979)
DIRECTOR: Beverly & Ferd Sebastian (Gator Bait, Flash & the Firecat)
STARS: Richard Lynch (The Seven Ups, Steel), Priscilla Barnes, Stuart Whitman (Guyana: Cult of the Damned, Moving Target), John Ireland (Thunder Run), Richard Jaeckel (Killing Machine, Speedtrap), Julius Harris (Live and Let Die)
SYNOPSIS: Entertaining drive-in exploitation from the makers of Gator Bait and The Hitchhikers. It's great to see perennial bad guy Richard Lynch as the leading man — and he's more than up to the task. He's really more of an anti-hero having recently been released early from prison. A government agent (Ireland) wants him to help nail sleazy villain Stuart Whitman. Lynch's specialty is as a stock car driver, whiskey runner and bagman. He's hired to deliver some dirty money for Whitman but soon finds himself at the wrong end of a hitman's gun. He then spends the rest of the film driving across country trying to find out who double-crossed him. Along the way he kidnaps, in a nice way, Priscilla Barnes and uses her as cover when going through roadblocks. Eventually she warms up to him and even has a nude scene. Genre vets Jaeckel and Harris show up to help out too. The soundtrack music has a memorable ring to it and reminds me of 1970's Italian crime films (aka poliziotteschis). Better than you think and recommended.
