Breaking All the Rules (1985)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: James Orr

STARS: Carl Marotte (My Bloody Valentine, Pinball Summer), Thor Bishorpic, Carolyn Dunn (Friday the 13th: The Series), Rachel Hayward

SYNOPSIS: 80's cable TV favorite from the Great White North. It would be obvious to call the main character "Jack" (played by Carl Marotte) a Ferris Bueller rip-off. He's full of charm, swagger and silly humor: a snappy dresser and all around good guy. He gives worldy advice to his less confident pal "David" (who looks like a 16-year old Rick Astley!). Then I realized that Breaking All the Rules came out a year before John Hughes' iconic Ferris Bueller's Day Off! At any rate, this fun film has our two likable heroes pursuing a sexy spiked hair blonde (Dunn) and her equally cute brunette friend (Hayward). They spend a long night at a Canadian amusement park called "Fun Park" (actually the "La Ronde" in Montreal). Thrown in the mix is a trio of comedic criminals trying to find a stuffed bear prize, with a stolen diamond inside, that Hayward won. There are rollercoaster rides, chase scenes, funny sex fumbling, slapstick and a breakdance contest. The film benefits from four main characters who are all incredibly likable, good humor and a brisk pace. BTW - It all feels pretty PG rated until you get some surprising nudity with a close up shot of Dunn's ass in a tight pair of "I♥U" panties or a random topless scene courtesy of Hayward! This one is a personal favorite!
