Blood Salvage (1990)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Tucker Johnston

STARS: Danny Nelson, Lori Birdsong, Christian Hesler, John Saxon (Cannibals in the Streets, Doomsday Flight), Ray Walston (Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Evander Holyfield

SYNOPSIS: Tow truck driving Jake and his two sons kidnap travelers and remove their organs to sell on the black market in this early 90's horror film with dark humor that steals from Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Motel Hell. John Saxon and his family (wife, son and wheelchair-bound daughter) are traveling through the South in their mobile home. They stop at a redneck town carnival for their daughter to participate in a beauty / talent contest. She loses, but local hillbilly Jake takes a shine to her. This is bad for the family as Jake and his two inbred sons decide to kidnap them. The daughter is secured in the house while the rest of the family is tied up in the barn along with other victims. They're all kept (barely) alive so they can be slowly sold off for "parts"! Turns out Jake's wife, a dead ringer for Saxon's daughter, died while waiting for a transplant. Now it's his mission to even the score. Mostly played for laughs but with a few good gory scenes and some car chases. Thankfully, Danny Nelson plays "Jake" pretty straight with no winking at the camera. He's kind of a cross between Barry Corbin (War Games) and Jim Siedow (the "Cook" from Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Boxing legend Evander Holyfield produced the film and appears in a cameo, as himself(!), in the carnival sequence.
