Blackout (1985)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Douglas Hickox (The Giant Behemoth, Theatre of Blood)

STARS: Keith Carradine, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard Widmark (Bear Island), Michael Beck

SYNOPSIS: Anyone watching cable TV back in the 80's will remember this genuinely scary thriller and the good news is that it still holds up! It starts off with a man brutally murdering his family and eluding the police, including the lead Detective (Richard Widmark), ala The Stepfather. Not long after an unknown driver picks up an equally unknown hitchhiker. The car ends up in a fiery crash with one man burned beyond recognition and the other (Keith Carradine) horribly disfigured with amnesia. It seems impossible to tell if the survivor is the vicious killer or an innocent man. Carradine eventually recovers and falls in love with his nurse (Kathleen Quinlan). Her ex-boyfriend (Michael Beck) does not take this news well. Meanwhile, retired cop Widmark is still obsessed with finding the killer when he gets a tip about Carradine and starts snooping around. When the mystery rapist (wearing a creepy leather S&M zipper-face mask) begins to murder again Widmark is ready for him. A great thriller with solid performances and tight direction from Hickcox.
