Skip Tracer (1977)

$20.00

(aka Deadly Business)

DIRECTOR: Zale Dalen (Terminal City Ricochet)

STARS: David Petersen, John Lazarus, Rudy Szabo

SYNOPSIS: David Petersen is great as a no-nonsense repo man trying hard to get the "Man-of-the-Year" award at his job. He calls, stalks and hassles people who are behind on their payments. He could be repossessing anything: a TV set, furniture, a car, even a house. Early in the film he gets paired up with a new worker so he can show him the ropes. Petersen hates the idea but he agrees to help him anyway. They go from place to place tracking down the deadbeats while Petersen gives the new recruit some insight and wisdom about being a good repo man. Meanwhile, an unknown stalker is trying to kill Petersen! Even though he's not a private investigator or cop this has a very film noir feeling to it. This Canadian production is a great, quirky, comedy / drama that has a little bit of action, violence and some minor nudity too. But mostly it's a fun character study that some people have compared to 1984's Repo Man. Recommended!
