DIRECTOR: Silvio Narizzano (Bloodbath, Redneck)

STARS: Bud Cort (Son of Hitler, Harold and Maude), Samantha Eggar (The Brood, Welcome to Blood City), Chris Wiggins (High-Ballin'), John Friesen (Naked Lunch), Gary Reineke (Rituals)

SYNOPSIS: Set in Depression era Western Canada this gentle film has a real feel for the time and place. Bud Cort shows up to a dustbowl town by train in 1935. He's wide-eyed and carrying a book called: "The Teacher's Guide". It's his first teaching job out of college and he's not sure what to expect. Jobs are scarce and he's traveled far for little pay. It was a smart casting choice to have Cort star in this small forgotten gem. Viewers completely feel for the poor guy. The kids at his school (who range from about 5 up to 18) are hard to manage, the townspeople don't really give him any respect and his crush on Samantha Eggar is doomed. Through it all Cort's pluckiness shines through and has you pulling for him.

Based on an autobiographical book by Max Braithwaite.
