SYNOPSIS: All time classic French comedy that inexplicably has never been released on dvd outside of France. French icon Philippe Noiret steals the show as a lazy, corrupt, dishonest career cop (the original title of the film translates to "Rotten Cops"). After throwing his partner to the wolves in an opening scene he gets matched up with a new one. The 'New Partner' (Thierry) is a young, by-the-book recruit who refuses to partake in Noiret's kick-backs, shake-downs and carefree attitude. There's plenty of humor as Noiret slowly wears down Thierry by hiring a hooker to seduce him, taking him gambling, making him look bad at work and generally trying to get him to just loosen the hell up and enjoy life. There's a funny running joke where Noiret fills his captain's nasal inhaler with cocaine so the boss will always be in a happy mood! Eventually the pair are called upon to catch a big time drug dealer (and maybe make a little money on the side too). There's a reason this was such an entertaining hit as it's filled with genuine laughs, action scenes and great performances. In spoken French with English subtitles. WIDESCREEN (window-boxed).
