Disaster at Silo 7 (1988)
DIRECTOR: Larry Elikann
STARS: Michael O'Keefe (Split Image), Peter Boyle (Kid Blue), Patricia Charbonneau (Desert Hearts), Perry King (Andy Warhol's Bad, Class of 1984), Joe Spano (Terminal Choice), Dennis Weaver (Duel), Ray Baker (Total Recall)
SYNOPSIS: This realistic made-for-TV drama about an Arkansas missile silo accident was based on an actual event in 1980. A team of military men do some routine service on a Titan missile silo. A large wrench is accidentally dropped and it causes a leak. The area is quarantined and the team leader (a winning O'Keefe) is brought in to fix the problem. He's great at his job but often butts heads with the upper brass (King & Spano). Things don't go as planned and the missile explodes ejecting the deadly warhead into the desert. Peter Boyle's General makes it a priority to find the warhead ASAP. Meanwhile, the local sheriff (Weaver) does his best to find out what's happening on the base and keep the townsfolk safe. A straightforward account with reliable actors that generates real tension. The burn victim make-up on some of the characters is pretty gruesome stuff.
