SYNOPSIS:
Tagline: "The girl by the side of the road. You've seen her standing there. Thumb out. Smiling. There are thousands like her all over America. And you've heard about what happens to some of them when they get in the wrong car. This movie is about one of these kids. And about her family. But it could be about your family. Where is your daughter tonight?"
Classic made-for-TV film from the late 70's. Charlene Tilton stars as a chubby-faced California teen, working at a beachside hot dog stand, who learns the hard way that hitchhiking is a dangerous game to play. She and her friends (including Dominique Dunne) want to have their freedom to come and go as they please. But they're too young to drive - so what's a girl to do? Even the threat of a rapist / killer who picks up teen girls and leaves them dead in ditches doesn't dissuade them. Craig T. Nelson (Dominique Dunne's future Poltergeist "father") has a memorable scene as an intense driver who tries to teach Tilton a lesson. Fan's of Born Innocent and Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway will want to check this out!
