Cry Rape (1970)

$20.00

(aka The Brutes)

DIRECTOR: Roger Fritz

STARS: Helga Anders (What a Way to Die!), Arthur Brauss (Cross of Iron), Klaus Lowitsch (Firefox, World on a Wire)

SYNOPSIS: Two sexual predators get their kicks by terrorizing women. One night they meet a sexy young thing (Anders) in a bar with her friends. They trick her into going with them to a desolate quarry. That night and the next morning the men play mind games and rape her. Eventually the two men begin to clash with each other as well. In one memorable scene, after Lowitsch rapes Anders, she tells the men she's going to report them to the police. Brauss agrees and tells her it's a good idea. He then methodically tells her step by step what she can expect. From the leering questions by police, to the doubt of her story by prosecutors to the courtroom exposure of her private life. It's a wicked bit of gas lighting that stops Anders in her tracks. This more of a psychological thriller than straight up sexploitation. The acting by all three stars is way above average for this kind of film. Imported from Germany Cry Rape has never received a home video release of any kind in the U.S. Recommended. In German with English subtitles. WIDESCREEN
