Sweden - Heaven and Hell (1968)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Luigi Scattini (Witchcraft '70)

STARS: (Narrator) Edmund Purdom (Pieces, Absurd)

SYNOPSIS: Entertaining, mostly fake (or re-enacted), mondo film showing all the wonders and oddities of life in Sweden circa 1968. The deliciously condescending narration by Edmund Purdom is hilarious. For one segment on sex education he explains: "With the detachment of a naturalist lecturing on the behavior of the butterfly the teacher traces out the anatomical geography of the genital organs while the children listen dutifully, perhaps a trifle bored. The same boredom they will show when the fall in love… make love… commit suicide… and so on". The great Piero Umiliani does the score and it's the first use of his classic "Mah Na Mah Na" song in film or TV show. In English.
