Into the Homeland (1987)
DIRECTOR: Lesli Linka Glatter
STARS: Powers Booth (Southern Comfort), Paul Le Mat (Strange Invaders), C. Thomas Howell, David Caruso, Rick Dano, Arye Gross
SYNOPSIS: Powers Booth is in fine form as an ex-cop looking for his daughter in this made-for-cable sleeper. His search leads him to a quiet town where a violent right wing group resides. He infiltrates the Neo Nazi organization and wins the trust of the leader, Paul Le Mat, and his son played by C. Thomas Howell. Eventually he realizes that Howell knows where his daughter is and must convince him to do the right thing and help. Very well made drama that is not over-the-top or exploitative. It feels depressingly realistic. All the actors involved deliver solid performances. Recommended.
