Four Murders Are Enough, Darling (1971)

$20.00

(aka Ctyri Vrazdy Stací, Drahousku)

DIRECTOR: Oldrich Lipsky (Happy End, Mysterious Castle in the Carpathians)

STARS: Lubomír Lipsky, Jirina Bohdalová, Iva Janzurová (You are a Widow, Sir!),

SYNOPSIS: A wild Czech parody of classic gangster films. Nerdy schoolteacher "George Camel" (the funny Lubomír Lipsky) finds himself at the center of a war between two gangs as they try to retrieve a one million dollar check. The missing check has accidentally landed in George's possession but he's too distracted by sexy newspaper journalist "Sabrina" to even notice. However, even he can't ignore the dead gangsters that keep turning up in his apartment. Both gangs, and the cops, mistakingly think George is some kind of vicious mass murderer! The film is filled with physical comedy, bloody corpses and a lot of misunderstandings. One nice touch is the when the film occasionally goes to comic book style panels showing wild action scenes (like the poster art above). Iva Janzurová, who was so funny in You Are a Widow, Sir!, once again shows off her comedic chops as a quick-change disguise artist working for the crooks. Presented in a nice quality print. In original Czech language with English subtitles.
